No on 8: Where's Rosie?
Some people are making much of the fact that while Rosie O'Donnell jumped at the chance to get legally married in California, she hasn't (yet) donated to the No on 8 campaign that would preserve her right to do so.
Rosie sounds burned out on the issue, to judge from her responses to questioners on her blog. To be honest, we kind of sympathize.
Rosie has been out and agitating for years.
Her political views, not just on LGBT rights but on domestic violence and a host of other women's and kids' issues, have cost her big bucks. Should she have dug deep one more time? (Not that it would have been the last time.) Probably. What also would be nice, though, is if all the closeted and semi-closeted celebrities out there, and there are bajillions, took up some of the slack and stepped up.

1. We know she supports No on 8.
2. She may have/probably has donated to the NO on 8, perhaps anonymously as is her right. (If she donated anonymously, why would she demand that everyone know she's donated.
3. She may have donated but her name is not showing up on the registry as many people have noted happened to them. Again, it seems not in her character to say, "hey, I donated but it's not showing up on the registry." It's nobody's business and she's not the braggard type. My two cents.

As she is a resident of Florida, maybe she should start in her own backyard and spend her time and money fighting Amendment 2, which has been ignored by all the other celebrities and national gay orgs. Why is anyone questioning a Florida resident for not donating to stop Prop 8 when nobody is questioning the California residents for not helping stop Amendment 2? And what about Amendment 102 in Arizona? The Big Gay World goes far beyond California people!!!

I think the very presumption that Rosie SHOULD donate her money is outrageous. It's none of anyone's business.
