Great Prop 8 Protest Video!

Thanks Elvina for sending this to us!  Keep up the great work everyone!

No time for civil rights?

Matthew_shepard_2I'd just broken my retainer tray after about one month of wearing them and was returning from my dentist to get its replacement. That's $100 I really didn't need to spend. As I'm hurrying down the sidewalk to get back to work I'm stopped by a young girl with a binder. I think to myself "Oh, crap. I really don't have time for this now. Plus, I have food and gifts to buy for the holidays."

Cleve Jones gives us "MILK" dish

Cleveemile Cleve Jones went from being a young protégé of America's first openly gay politician to becoming himself one of the most respected gay heroes of our time. Now we can follow the early life of Jones in the new film "MILK, "which chronicles the final years of Jones' mentor, Harvey Milk -- the legendary San Francisco supervisor. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant and set three decades ago in the Castro (then a gay district in bud), the movie features a powerhouse cast that includes It Boy Emile Hirsch (of "Into the Wild" fame) as the young Jones, whose evolution from "obnoxious, foolish" Castro crawler to fiery activist is a significant storyline in the moving biopic.

"Milk" Review

M03503 I never saw Harvey Milk as a living, breathing person as I was born just before he died.   Seeing the businessman-turned camera man-turned SF City Supervisor-turned gay icon only in hindsight through the lens of historical footage (wild eyes, signature fist-pumping gesture, trademark lines and all) made him appear as more of a superhuman freedom fighter, sacrificing his own life so that gays everywhere wouldn't have to sacrifice theirs.

Thankful at Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Thanksgiving is Thursday – like you didn’t know that.  I have always felt this is the best time of the year.  And not just for the obvious things, like days off from work, massive amounts of fat foods, booze, gifts, football, etc.  Like so many other people, I get a warm feeling at this time of year, feeling more attached to other people and to the communities around me, the communities that I am part of.  One of these communities is the Queer community, and as a gay man, I have a ton to be thankful for this year.

Mark Bingham's mom vs. the terrorists

Slide1 Alice Hoagland is one tough cookie, and she raised a tough cookie, too. You know him, at least by name: Mark Bingham was the hell-for-leather rugby champion who helped lead the charge against the hijackers aboard United Flight 93. Now she's going to court to look in the eye the Guantanamo captives on trial for plotting to end Mark's life -- and she's not blinking.
