Newt Gingrich, Divorced Lover of Family Values, Warns America of “Gay Fascism"

Newt_gingrich_82193470 On one of last week’s Bill O’Reilly shows – I didn’t see it as I have a v-chip on my T.V. that blocks O’Reilly – guest blowhard Newt Gingrich had the following to say about gays and the aftermath of Prop 8:

"I think there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in traditional religion."

He went on to say:

"[W]hen the radicals lost the vote in California, they are determined to impose their will on this country no matter what the popular opinion, no matter what the law of the land."

Well the Wingnuts stay true to form, don’t they?  I mean, why let a little thing like two back-to-back crushing defeats in national elections cork the hate-spleen of the GOP?  Why take a step back from the brink of red-meat, wedge-building, gay-bashing?  I mean, it still works so well, right?

Well, good news here, folks.  The tactics and thinking of Gingrich and O’Reilly does not work anymore.  Yes, we lost on Prop 8.  But it was close, and we won’t lose next time.  The world is changing, slowly, but changing.

Because I feel this way, I won’t bother pointing out that marching for one’s civil and human rights is about as far removed from fascism as it gets.  Or, that it is now and has always been conservatives who have abrogated and denied minority groups their basic civil rights, conservatives like Gingrich and O’Reilly.  And I won’t waste my time pointing out this sort of ridiculous blather only ends up making our side look like the reasonable America and family loving people that we really are, and making their side look like the shit-bags that they really are.

I won’t bother wasting your time or mine pointing these things out.

You know what, not all of us conservatives are against gay equality, so how dare you lump us all into one group? You have no idea who I am, and what my beliefs are, yes, I do consider myself a conservative, however, I did not leave the Republican party, the Republican party left me.

There is no way that you can blame the Republicans or conservatives for the defeat of Prop 8. If you would care to study your history, the last time California went for the Republican Presidential candidate (George H.W. Bush) was in 1988. Since then, California has voted for Clinton (2X), Gore, Kerry and Obama. There are plenty of Democratic voters in California who oppose gay equality, so before you bash the conservatives, maybe you need to start with your own lib-kind.

The last two Republican defeats were not because of wedge-building, gay-bashing, or anything of the sort. The last two defeats were because the conservatives failed to campaign and govern as conservatives. As the saying goes, liberalism fails everytime it's tried (Jimmy Carter Administration, USSR, North Korea), and conservatism works everytime it's tried (Ronald Reagan Administration, South Korea.)

You have also told a complete lie that conservatives have abrogated and denied minority civil rights. If you will go back and check your history, it was the Abraham Lincoln Republicans that opposed slavery and ultimately got it banned in the Constitution. It was also the Republicans that got women the right to vote. It was also Republicans that supported the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s. Go back and check your facts, Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican; Al Gore's father (D-TN) voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Act. So, don't even pretend to act like the Democratic "Our" party is the party of the reasonable and family loving people when Democrats are out there touting for murdering un-born babies and partial-birth abortion. So I'll stop here, and I won't keep on pointing out all of the things that the Democrats do that make them the panty-waist douchebags that they are....

The next two years may be ruled by Democrats, but, I will guarantee this, if there is another terrorist attack and if buildings start falling again, you can bet your bottom dollar, that the American people and Barack Obama will be looking for George W. Bush to ask just how he kept attacks from occurring since 9/11. The American people are very finicky, and if lots of people end up dying because of a terrorist attack and Obama does nothing about it, I will guarantee a Republican landslide in 2010 and 2012.

Of course, I already know that I'm going to get insulted and flamed and put down by everyone else on here, so, go ahead, I'm already used to it. Jindal-Steele 2012!!!!!

Damn Liberal

I am not completely up on my American history, but I seem to recall that in the past, the Republican party was the liberal party and the Democratic party was the conservative party. It was not until the civil rights movement that the Democratic party became the liberal party. So, it has usually been the conservatives who are proponents of the status quo.

I am a libertarian (small L) and what I find so funny are Conservative Republican gays that have to defend their quasi-nazi party by always saying that the democrats are as much to blame. Somewhat I agree. But check the list of supporters that were so determined FOR Prop 8. You will noticed a few Republican Party donations in the mix. I could not find a single Democrat or Libertarian Party donation. Like it or not it is the CONSERVATIVES of this world that make sure this world drags it feet into any progress. Why do folks claim CONSERVATIVE like it is something special. Stalin was a radical conservative, Hitler was a Conservative, All the political mass murderers from history are Conservatives. But, can anyone name me a Libertarian or Liberal democracy that has been responsible for death camps, genocide, war, torture, and every other form of atrocity that man can commit to himself or his surroundings? I can understand being conservative with money. But with civil liberties I am an unabashed LIBERAL. I love freedom. I love being Gay, I love being an atheist. The CONSERVATIVE throughout history has attempted to slow down (at best) or kill (at worst) the advancement of the human race. It is driven by fear of the new and unknown. And yet we have in our community folks that are very much like the prisoner in "The Life of Brian". Who, while in the torture chamber, shackled to the wall can only praise his tormentors as "A wonderful race" , "doing what is best for the country" and "dreaming of being spat in the face!"

Well not me. If I must be a radical I would rather throw my lot in with the Radical Liberals like Thomas Jefferson, than with the Radical Conservatives like Pol Pot.

Reality check

We should not confuse liberal/conservative and Democrat/Republican. The "progressive" or "liberal" Republican party of Lincoln is the Democratic party of today. When President Johnson (Democrat) signed the Civil Rights Act in 1968 he fundamentally shifted the course of the Democratic party to its current progressive nature. In fact, at the signing he said that the "Democrats have just lost the South for a generation." The Republican Party, starting with Nixon and solidified under Reagan, filled that void and became the conservative party it is today.

History shows us that progressive/liberal thought prevails over time, so we will likely see the new Republican party begin to shift to the center/left. They are now confronted with the fact that they can't win national elections in the Northeast and West coast, and they are losing the midwest and southwest, so the "south" is all they have left. The party will die if it doesn't change its platform to more inclusive and progressive ideas. The old tactics of catering to straight, white, Christian conservatives is becoming a losing strategy. The last few national elections have made it clear that they are losing with just about every minority demographic, so they need to find a way to reach out to an increasingly diverse population if they are to be viable nationally once again.

"Our" side?

And on the world goes, the majority believing there is an "us" and "them" and refusing to see that there is no us and them.

We are one people, no matter what we perceive. Perhaps one day all humans will see the difference and understand. Until then, misunderstanding, confusion, and fear rule a very dark collective dream...

Oh yeah and the MKL was a Repbulican was a bald face lie and was rejected by republicans and democrats alike.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/18/AR2006101801754.html

The most vociferous anti-civil rights gang was the southern democrats that went back to the Civil War. Reconstruction was a Republican idea and the South reacted by being the opposite party but were considered their own brand: Dixiecrats. VERY VERY ANTI-Civil rights. And after the Civil right amendment was passed with LIBERAL REPUBLICANS and LIBERAL DEMOCRATS voting in favor. LBJ (a liberal) said upon signing the legislation "there goes the South for a generation". The Conservative and bigoted majority in the South is only just now open to change.

Even if Democrat leaning California did vote for all those Democratic presidents it was the CONSERVATIVE RELIGIOUS Black voters that helped carry the day for the Anti-gay vote. Regardless of the race CONSERVATIVE is the operative word here.

It is true that not all Conservatives reactionary troglodytes. But if your vote empowers them then what is the difference?

And listen to you tout Ronald Reagan as some paragon of virtue. He subverted the constitution to aid IRAN and the Contras. He never brought to justice the folks who killed the Marines in Lebanon. And he could not open is pathetic mouth to utter the word HIV/AIDS much less lift a finger to do diddly.

As for Jimmy Carter? That is what happens when you get a religious man that really believes what he says he does. Had he been a Conservative I am sure he would have been compelled to kill thousands of innocent Iranians by bombs to free the embassy hostages (Oh yeah and remember the Reagan Republicans were working with Iranians to keep the hostages in Iran till the inauguration).

As for terrorist: A Conservative President not only managed to NOT catch THE major terrorist in the last 7 years of his pathetic administration but managed to grow the organization by invading a country that had nearly ZERO to do with 9/11. HOW ABSOLUTELY INEPT IS THAT!?!?! Bin Laden and his henchmen are still running around FREE. A trillion dollars, 4201 Coalition soldiers dead, 43,993 wounded, and untold numbers of Iraqis. And you think that Obama would want his advise? For what? On how to fail completely?

Where are the convictions of the ANTRAX attacks? NOTHING!

By the way Marxist/Leninist/Maoist communism is NOT LIBERAL. Dictatorships are all CONSERVATIVE by their nature. They are about not changing anything they do not want to change. It is all status quo stuff and anti-freedom.

Bruno Kravitz

That's it, Newt. Fall back on the typical conservative rallying cry when your party cannot connect to americans via policies and common values: fear-mongering against your fellow americans who are gay. When you resort to this level of desperation, it's a clear sign that the republican party is in utter disarray. And it couldn't happen to a more deserving group of nazis.

Michael

"I think there is a straight and religious fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in civil rights for everyone."

There Newt, fixed that for you.

Alex

What kind of douchebag even uses the v-chip, let alone knows how to configure it to block the O'Reilly factor. Get a life.

Joe Moag

Boy, I guess you told me.

C2

Oh, guys . . . Newt Gingrich appears every four years out of the mists of obscurity, like the punditry's own Brigadoon, to say something daft about an election or appear on some "Hey! Remember the 90s?!" show and then return to the anonymity of irrelevance. He's not worth getting exercised over.

Roger

Oh, sorry, this is about Fascism not Fashionism .... I'm confused.

queerplanet

Well you know what they say? Those who fear homosexuality the most are usually closeted homosexuals themselves.

I think Newt and Bill got a thing goin on, if you know what I mean?

And they only way they can get hard is to feel shame.

Kinky, yes. But it's when they want ALL of us to get off the same way they do that I have a problem.

Consensual sex is important Newt darling.

Thug

After tweleve years of Republicans reducing our elections to a contest to see who hates faggots more I find it hilarious that conservatives can't own their bigotry.

Rob

I am a 28 year old gay man from upstate NY who happens to be Republican and who voted for John McCain. I agree with Gingrich and O'Reilly. I do believe that the gay movement has become a "NAZI" like movement trying to project their beliefs on everyone. Its facism at its worst. Not everyone has to agree and the majority shall have their say. Too many uneducated people voted for Obama out of social pressure and distorted, unobjective reporting by our media. This country is heading on a downward slope because we lack values and morality, there is no right and wrong any longer. If we do not leave this liberal, extreme leftist attitude, we are destined to fail and the United States will be no more.

Joe Moag

Rob: Fascism at its worst? Its worst? Really? Ever hear of the Holocaust?

BrodyR

Huh... Interesting to say the least. Rob, the United States will be no more wether its Democrats or Republicans running it. Its not because your all sinners and are bad. Thats hogwash. Have you actually read the bible without the attitude to find the easy way out of improving yourself? Its a fairie tale. I have a bible. Ive read it. It sits beside my "The Complete Works of the Brothers Grimm".

The US will collapse in on itself primrily because of your divisions, your ignorance and your complete lack of faith in humanity. You don;t need God, you don't need Buddha and you don't need Allah. They are OUR imaginary friends that WE created in OUR OWN image, so that we would not have to deal with our own mortality.

I have JUST learned the errors of my ways with politics. I think, Obama will probably accomplish just as much as Bush did. Nothing. And the president after Obama will accomplish... nothing. So, just sit back, and enjoy the rollercoaster ride. IM headin to Switzerland to have a far view, before europe follows suit and collapses on itself afterwards.

Glenn Lennox

This guy has no power any more. Time has seen more and more people turn away from him and his lies. His time is done.

Now let's stop reporting about him and his views and let him sink into obscurity where he belongs. The lack of publicity will hurt his out-of- control ego way more than anything else we could do to him.

Newt who ?

David Ramos (Saclatinohottie)

I'm posting my full reply to this kind of bashign elsewhere but in short, This jerk actually said we're imposing "our will" on them?????? umm last I checked no one was forcing heterosexuals to marry anyone of the same sex. The idiot has it backwards and didn't even realize that statement is actually what was done to us in this election. The vote for yes on 8 is what is called MOB RULE or Majority rule which is what started the holocaust, segregation, slavery, etc. Mob rule or majority is where the will of the majority or mob is imposed on all robbing the individual of rights accorded to others going against our constitutional right of free and equal. Why is this so hard for them to understand. You can have your opinion but not always your way.

David

So much about his opinions. Just remember how he told his first wife he was divorcing her while she was on bed, suffering from cancer. So he can marry his mistress. That was "family value"?????

Tim

I'm gay and everything Newt says is TRUE. The lockstep goose stepping the quote "gay community" does for its righteous, aka it's OUR rights. When did this "right" to get sanctioned by "government" become a "right"?

I guess the PR the "gay community" always backfires. Let's march against Mormons, or some other "church of the month" to vent our spleen. Lets MARCH, MARCH, MARCH!!

I've found gaydom to be some of the worst people to be "inclusive." Let's see, it took 6000 years of tradition and history to be for straight marriages. Only another 5990 years for gay marriages to be accepted as the "norm." Good Luck fellas and ladies.
