Prop 8 Aftermath: Focus on the Family May Have to Focus on Bankruptcy Court
After donating $500,000 to the Vote Yes on Prop 8 campaign, ultra-conservative Focus on the Family (James Dobson’s cult) may be headed the way of the dinosaurs, which is really odd, as they don't believe in dinosaurs.
With debts mounting due to cash shortages, Focus is having to lay off over 200 jobs which is around 20% of their workforce.
Oh, my. What will they do? Well, allow me to offer the following potential revenue generators:
1) Bake sales
2) Selling pieces of the “true cross”
3) Selling dispensations – it worked in the middle ages for the Vatican
4) Going Chapter 7 and selling to highest bidder. I will open the bidding at $3.26
But perhaps the sweetest little irony in all of this is that Focus is having problems selling its crap (books and CDs and the like), because they are getting pounded by big box retailers like Wal-Mart undercutting their profits. For years, we on the liberal/left have been trying to put some breaks on the bog boxes, and always, always, always, some Christian Conservative comes out and tells us that, basically, Jesus Loves cheap goods.
Well, there ya’ go! And just in time for Christmas, too!

I am not a Protestant but I will defend the Church here. I don't know what you're talking about with Walmart. Perhaps some individual Christians are for Walmart, but the Church - the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic one takes no stand on Walmart that I know of. The Church teaches that homosexual acts are a sin, that's all. This nothing new, she's been doing so for close to two thousand years. What is new is the success that the ruler of this world has had in convincing people that a destructive way of life, homosexuality, is a good choice. Take a look around us. Millions are dead from AIDS, many more are on drugs, in therapy, or are living lives of either depravity or loneliness. Homosexuality is objectively a disordered condition.

Speaking as a gay Christian minister of the Gospel, homoexuality is not the origin of AIDS, depression or drug use. You can find just as many heterosexual people affected by this social ills. However, literalist Christian who only 'read' the Bible vs. study it, continue to share how destructive homosexuality is, but rarely talk about the effects of divorce, straight promiscuity, unwed mothers and fatherless children have on society. If you study the scriptures, you will learn that every passage that 'appears' to condemn homosexuality, is condemning idolatry in its various forms. Sex with male (and female) temple prostitutes is the homosexually related idolatry that Romans and I Corinthians talks about. You can learn more from my book, What Did Jesus Say? - Why the Bible Does Not Condemn Homosexuality. It will be available on amazon in December.

I don't get why the Church thinks more about gay sex than I do. As a gay man, I find that very odd. What is your obsession with gay sex? or sex in general? I realize many of your pastors, bishops, and priests are sex-offenders, but really.. what is your obsession with sex?

I'm not going to grace MarkF with a reply to his simple-minded post. Perhaps he would do himself and the rest of the community a service if he would spend a little time educating himself on AIDS & drugs statistics. What is he doing posting on gay.com anyways??

"What is he doing posting on gay.com anyways??"
ManHunt doesn't let you leave comments.
The MarkF's of the world condemn homosexuality until they get caught doing meth with a gay hooker or assuming a "wide stance" at the airport.

Well put warmfuz!
Thank you.
MarkF probably just got done jerking off to some male porn on the Internet. After he came, his own internalized homophobia came rushing up. He was mad and ashamed at what he had done, so he went on to Gay.com to preach his (self) hatred of all the homos out there.
