Thankful in Florida: Adoption ban struck down

Finally! Frank Gill, his partner and their two foster sons have officially been declared a family as a Miami judge strikes down Florida's ban on gays adopting children.

Tuesday's ruling is not the first against Florida's harshest-in-the-nation ban -- a Key West trial judge ruled similarly a couple of months ago. But lawyers say it's far more important as a precedent because, unlike the Key West ruling, which was not opposed by the state for undisclosed reasons, it is destined to be appealed.

A handful of states, including Utah and Arkansas, ban unmarried couples straight or gay from adopting. Florida's law is particularly evil because it bans even single people "if that person is a homosexual."  It is particularly cruel because it allows gays to foster-parent children, creating families only to tear them apart again.

Thanks to the ACLU for the save; meanwhile, the so-called Liberty Counsel is already gearing up for the appeal.

Finally some good news. There are so many children who could have a decent home for a change. Our community could really make a change in the country by being able to take in a child. If I was financially able, I know I'd be on the phone first thing to rescue a child from quite possibly the worst system in the nation.

What if there is a god, but it's not the Judeo-Christian one. What if some obscure African or South American tribe were the only worshipers of this true god, but they were long ago wiped out or converted by adherents of the false Christian God and the true god is really pissed of at Christians in particular? What then? It seems you have a lot to lose. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

In any case, it seems your knowledge of the bible is a bit shakey, but I'll let people more farmiliar with that mythology address that issue.
