O'Reilly: American Idol's Kiss "Embarrassing"
Earlier this week, Bill O'Reilly dug up a weeks old "scandal" when he showed pictures of "American Idol" contestant Adam Lambert kissing another guy -- as if many people haven't yet seen these shots or that people will really care that he's gay instead of judging him on his talents as a singer. And why are they embarrassing? Because he's kissing a guy, who is apparently his boyfriend?
Asinine. If it were a straight contestant, male or female, kissing a member of the opposite sex, this would be a non-issue. And keep in mind they're just kissing. Not naked. Not trying to screw a horse. Just kissing.
Unlike other certain conservative pundits, I actually don't mind O'Reilly. Sure, I don't always agree with him, but I think he sometimes has valid and intelligent arguments. But when he goes on air to discuss a contestant on a show that he admits to not knowing much about (because he's apparently too busy, uh, watching "Real Housewives"), he just looked foolish. Even more so when the two women on air with him said that people will judge Lambert on his singing prowess and not whether he's gay -- one even pointed out that the pictures have been floating around for awhile already. Another moment O'Reilly looked stupid? When he asked whether illegal aliens were allowed to vote for people on "Idol." No, clearly only U.S. citizens have the ability to watch TV and interpret what that call-in number means.
And it wasn't enough for O'Reilly to say the pictures were "embarrassing" for "American Idol," but he was too cowardly to show the images of them actually kissing. Instead, the part of the pictures where their lips connect is blocked out. Really Bill? Methinks you need to spend a little more time visiting your girlfriends on "The View." They'll set you straight. Or maybe just make you a little more enlightened. At least enough to have you not think that just because someone is or might be gay may cause them to lose fans. That's why Neil Patrick Harris no longer has a career. And Ellen has a low-rated talk show. And Lindsay Lohan ... oh wait, she actually is having a tough time (Whoops -- not allowed into SamRo's sis' JCPenney after party at the Chateau? That had to hurt). But that's not because Lindsay was in a gay relationship. She's just a little crazy. Either way, O'Reilly, stop tossing fuel on the fire. You're smarter than that.

This is the last gasp of people caring about a person's sexuality.
And I can't wait for Mr. O'Reilly's last gasp.

O'Reilly has and always will be a joke. No one in his right mind can take this guy seriously. His homophobia, his racism, his sexism, it's just beyond me how anyone can watch him.
It's ok to be right-wing and talk about issues intelligently on air, but that's not what he's doing. He is rude, obnoxious, and a liar!

It's an entirely appropriate word for the situation, but it's spelled "asinine".

The problem is that enough American people watch religiously these lowlife pseudo-intellectual yappers. Until intelligence levels rise this man will always have an audience.Let the music play.........

Speaking of "assinine," which is a perfectly correct spelling in this case, when are the Log Uncle Tom Cabin Republikkkan types going to show up and defend their loofa loving man? Probably after they complete their interventions with Ann C. and Rush L.

You don't mind O'Reily, and you think he's smart? What's so smart about saying a girl that was brutalized and raped and placing responsibility on her? This is what offends you about O'Reily? How ego-centric of you.

O'Reilly is a great guy whether we like him or not. The clip, yes it pointed out the guy is GAY. So, he is gay. Is that going to influence the outcome of the voting for American Idol? That was the main question. He was not putting the guy down. O'Reilly is just intrigued by gays and what gays are like every other heterosexual. And we gays are just as sensitive about any issue with gayness to fight back and act like queers. Let the guy speak out. This is freedom of speech. At least until Obama takes over our minds and words.

>"He was not putting the guy down. O'Reilly is just intrigued by gays...."
Good evening, you dissembling, self hating, closeted "homosexual." O'Reilly most recently was demonizing gay people because some gay men dared to peck one another on the cheek at the Oscars. (O'Reilly is all about saving the children from seeing gay people, after all.) Maybe you missed that. Or maybe you're merely insane. Praiz!

Why is it that so many people confuse the Freedom of Speech law. Having Freedom of speech doesn't mean that everyone should be allowed to say whatever they want in any medium or anywhere else. What it means is that you are allowed to say anything you want without getting in legal troubles for it. But if Fox would decide that O'Reilly crossed the line, they could fire him without breaking the Freedom of Speech law, he could still say what he wants to say, just not on Fox anymore.
If some lawmaker wanted to censor O'Reilly for bashing gay people, they could sldo do that without breaking the freedom of speech law, he can say whatever he wants about gays, just not on national TV. Do you see the difference?? (and it's also kind of funny how it's usually conservatives that cry about freedom of speech, and then it's them that turn around and put up "no swearing"-signs around cities...)
And to say that O'Reilly is "intrigued" by gays is to really be in denial. I will refer you to "corrective_unconscious'" comment for examples of why that is.

I'm confused on what the big uproar is about...he didn't attack homosexuality, or Lambert, in any way. If anything, he attacked anyone who would not vote for Lambert JUST because he is gay. Of course, he had to be VERY careful given his viewing audience (which probably explains the cernsoring), but I think O'Reilly actually help in his comments against these sorts of bias. So this time, I say O'Reilly did good.

Stop being drama queens! The producers through something on his show; admitting not knowing much about it, he let the ladies do most of the talking. The illegal aliens questions was a joke, he's laughing. As an old straight guy-----as a Republican, he treated the issue with as much due respect as possible, and even wished the guy the best and agreed that he should win if his talent is so fitting.
