Airline For Pets Launches This Summer
Is your dog or cat tired of flying in the cargo hold when you travel? Okay, Fido and Kitty can't talk, but if they could, I am sure they would tell us that they'd rather fly in the main cabin, and now they can on PetAirways. I'm not kidding. There is a new airline just for pets, PeoplePets reports.
While traditional airlines relegate animals to the cargo hold, dogs and cats that travel on PetAirways are seated in the main cabin of the plane in special pet carriers. While you can't fly with your animal (you have to take a different flight and meet your pet at the airport), the "pawsengers" are supervised by a veterinary technician while in-flight. And get this: If your dog is flying cross country, he'll be taken off the plane to stretch his legs and do his business during all the stops.
According to PeoplePets, PetAirways launches on July 14 and will initially serve Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. If there is enough demand, service will expand to 25 cities within the next couple of years.
As the proud parent of both a dog and a cat who are like my children, I love the idea of an airline for pets and just might take advantage of it. It's about time my pets went on vacation with me!
How about you? Would you be more likely to travel with your pet knowing that your pet can fly in safer and more comfortable conditions? And how much would you be willing to spend for this service? Take the poll and weigh in on the comments section below.

This sounds great but I would rather an airline that allows people to travel with their pets. I don't know how comfortable I am with putting my dog on a flight that I can't be on. Also, how do you coordinate this? What if you can't get a flight for your pet at the same time as your own? What happens if your dog arrives an hour before you do or vice versa? You arrive somewhere and then you have to wait for your pet's flight to arrive? Seems like a hassle.
Sounded great in theory but I don't think it will be that successful.

Great idea, but awful timing in this economy.
